The valley is located at the southern slope of the Alps. The Senales Valley is rich in culture and offers many curiosities, but it is mainly renowned for being a real paradise for all sports fans and for skiers in particular. It further became known everywhere because of Ötzi,”the Ice Man”, the mummy of Similaun, which was found here. Ötzi's body was found on the Similaun Glacier by two German mountaineers in September 1991 who went for an excursion in this region.
Parts of the valley are the villages of Certosa, Monte Catarina, Madonna di Senales and Vernago, which are definitely worth a visit, even if it is only to taste some of the culinary delights from this area in the warm ambience that the inhabitants of this area offer.
As we have already mentioned, these villages are the ideal place for skiers, who will enjoy snowed-in slopes, which are kept in perfect conditions all year round. However, that is not all. From here you can reach the Giogaia di Tessa Natural Park, a unique experience during which you can observe rare and precious animals and plants.
