August - September 2008 Merano Meran Music Weeks The international classic festival is about to celebrate in the enchanting art nouveau of the Meran spa facility. High-carat orchestras, world-famous conductors, virtuous soloists guarantee true music experience of the highest level and unforgettable concert experiences. Cross-over concerts and exhibitions round off the classic programme and invite visitors into the elegant ambience of the Meran town theatre and the pavilion of flowers. 28.09.08 Merano The Grand Prix of Meran Renowned steeplechase at the horse race track in Untermais. On 5,000 metres, the favourites will show what they are made of. Excellent performances are rewarded by the audience with thundering applause. This event is the result of the racing season, which runs from June to October at the gallop race truck in Meran – Untermais. 17.-19.10.08 Merano Traditional Grape Festival The famous Meran Grape Festival takes place every year on the third Sunday in October at the completion of the grape harvest. The highlight of the festival is the colourful procession of groups in local costumes and brass bands through the town, with the beautiful elaborately decorated floats as a special attraction. 08.-10.11.08 Merano International WineFestival & Culinaria In the magnificient backdrop of the "Kurhaus", we invite more than 100 international wine producers, amongst them also some South Tyrolean wineries, in order to taste their top wines. Professionals, wine connoisseurs and wine lovers will have the 3-day opportunity to get some insight on new and matured vintages of top wines and to make up their mind. At the same time, you will be able to taste some culinary delights at the "Culinaria". December 2008 Merano Christmas-market This Christmas-market brings with music, theatre and culture a special atmosphere in the hearts of its visitors.
